About Laurie
Laurie Leahy is a professional food stylist with over three decades of experience. Recently, she was the full-time corporate food stylist for one of the nation’s largest meat purveyors. Proteins are her specialty, although she has vast experience with all food categories.
Her story…
“ I’m a maker and artist. Always have been. Building and creating have been my life for as long as I can remember. I’m also obsessed with food, and for that, I must credit my mother.
While most children ate grilled cheese for lunch, we were served grand dishes à la Julia Child (Mum was an early disciple). We were happy to be her guinea pigs, tasting creations that would later be served at her “Gourmet Club” dinner parties. It was through these culinary experiences that my young-self came to realize…food is art.
I owned my own catering business in college to help fund my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Creighton University. So when a friend recommended me for a job with a photographer as his food stylist, I was flabbergasted to learn that such a profession existed in the universe. How perfect....I could combine my two loves: food and art. “
